I want sweets!

Bitter Chocolate

We women… As the lyrics of a song from the 90s say, not necessarily politically correct, we are “made of phases”. We live every possible season for a whole month, full of hormones and their probable variations, some do not even feel or demonstrate, others go to the extreme of what is considered normal within the social rules of coexistence, but still, we are all women and the majority with similar needs when we talk about PMS symptoms (premenstrual tension).

Myself, as well as many others, I really want to eat sweets, which is fully explained by science, since in this period of the menstrual cycle, there is a reduction of magnesium in the cells, which can impair the absorption of calcium in the body and can be also responsible for the desire to eat sweets. On Instagram of Nutrition student Gabriel Gusmão (@gabrielgusmaontc) has a post totally dedicated to the subject, check it out.

A good alternative is to consume chocolate with 75% cocoa (or more), since it is a food rich in magnesium and low in fat, we still kill the endless desire to eat sweets.

Recipes with 75% cocoa chocolates and even 100% cocoa powder are not lacking on the internet, but in this heat, the preference is always for something more icy and practical, so here are some best tips.

Prestigious frozen porridge

Mix the milk, oats, cocoa and coconut in a milk jug, let it boil, stirring constantly, until it reaches the porridge point. Place a pot, preferably glass, and let it cool in the refrigerator. Grate the chocolate and put it on top when it’s time to eat.
