Avoid waste
Last week, I read this article in a newspaper… It’s the kind of news that shocks me, no matter how many times I read it, since from time to time, the UN surveys and publicizes food waste in the world.
The saddest and most difficult thing to understand is the origin of the waste: food purchased by end consumers and not consumed, and leftovers from prepared meals.
In a world where food vulnerability increases at the same rate as the consumption of ultra-processed foods, it is shocking to see that waste would feed everyone in the world who is hungry.
Since I started writing articles for the newspaper, where I was a columnist for 7 years, I have tried to publicize responsible food consumption as much as possible, the importance of not wasting food – both for reducing inequality and for preserving soil and rainwater – I have prepared several recipes that included reuse and correct ways of disposing of leftovers. Anyway, I know I don’t have a large readership, but I want to do my part in trying to improve the planet that is home to my family and so many people who need to live and not just survive.
Topics such as global warming, clean energy and responsible alternatives for using and reducing plastic in the world are more common in “rounds” of discussions, and I even see a great effort by some influencers to explain which foods are best for consumption and why We should avoid wasting food, but I still don’t think so, the propaganda for indiscriminate consumption, of more practical and “cheap” food, is more powerful.
Asking them to be aware is the least of the least, learning to have a better relationship with food is the basics, add to the mix, good reading like my website, which has many recipes with the topic in question www.chefroberta.com.br
